Since 1908, MHAC has been a leader in advocacy and education for mental health and for erasing stigma. Advocacy is all about action and we hope you will join us. If we want better access and better services for people with mental illness in a world of scarce resources, we have to speak out and to change minds. It takes all of us to make a difference.
At MHAC, our advocacy builds on three cornerstones for change:
* Educating elected officials and policymakers
* Motivating consumers and family members to speak out
* Creating coalitions and building consensus to change the system
We need your help, whether you are a consumer, a family member, a community volunteer or a concerned citizen. It takes many people working together to make a difference.
Whether writing to your state representative or speaking out to the media about mental illness, your contributions can make a huge difference in erasing the stigma of mental illness, improving the quality and availability of services and eliminating system barriers. So get involved!
