President and Chief Executive Officer

The President and Chief Executive Officer reports to  and is accountable to the Board of Directors.

 Job Functions:

             1.  Plans strategies for the development and implementation of all Mental Health Association of Connecticut master plans including fund raising, volunteer involvement, and programming. 

            2.  Oversees all programs on and  off-site programs.

            3.  Initiates organizational policies.

            4.  Oversees staff orientation and training.

            5.  Oversees staff compensation and benefits programs.

            6.  Oversees financial procedures, including budgets, accounting systems, audits, and appropriate reporting mechanisms.

7.      Promotes public relations state-wide.

8.      Prepares the Mental Health Association newsletter or delegates and oversees such.

9.  Updates the Mental Health Association website as needed.

 Education and Experience: The successful candidate will:

            1.  Hold a Master’s degree in social work, psychology, education, administration, or related field and will have had five years experience in community mental health or related field, including administrative responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or

            2.  Hold a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or a related field and seven years of experience in community mental health or related field, including administrative responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; o

            3.  Have knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations relating to mental health.

            4.  Have knowledge of mental health issues and available services.

 Skills: The successful candidate will have demonstrated, in her/his current, or a past,  position,  the following skills:  organizational, managerial and interpersonal.  He/she will also have demonstrated, in her/his current, or a past, position, the ability to work with employees, clients, board members and local and state officials.

            The successful candidate will have  excellent written and verbal skills.

Housing Coordinator - Bridgeport - Full Time

To help secure safe, stable, affordable housing for people with severe and prolonged mental illness. This position requires developing relationships with area landlords, assisting consumers in maintaining continuous community residence, establishing positive working relationships wit local housing authorities and working collaboratively with other Housing Coordinators throughout the state. Monday through Friday between 32 and 37.5 hours.

Residential Counselors - Torrington - Full and Part Time

Residential Counselor Full Time Monday through Friday 4pm – 12am and part time Sunday 8 a.m - 4 p.m. and Tuesday - Thursday 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.for Supportive Apartment Program. Responsibility includes:  teaching and clients in ADL skills, interpersonal relationships; maintain client records, case notes. Develop and implement with client individual housing plans. work collaboratively with therapists and community agencies. BA/BS or equivalent required.  Valid drivers license and vehicle required.

Residential Counselor for Respite Transitional Housing Program also needed Monday - Friday, 12 midnight to 8 am.

Full and Part Time Residential Case Managers - Danbury

MHAC in Danbury has job openings for full and part time residential case managers in our 24 hour supervised residential program and residential support programs.

Duties include teaching skills of daily living and community integration to adults with psychiatric disabilities living in the community.

Bachelor's degree in psychology/social services required. Experience is a plus. EOE
