Kids on the Block

Puppets reach kids when lectures can't

Kids on the Block are educational puppets which address the importance of every child’s mental health, the concerns associated with young people using illegal substances, and safety. The curriculums are preventive and educational tools designed for grades one through six.

Five skits focus on drugs and their effects on the body, communication skills, and peer pressure.  Some focus on the widespread problem of bullying.   Others are:

  • “Counseling Game” defines mental health, provides information about the symptoms of depression and available services for families in need of help.

  • “What’s the Problem?” and “Feelings are Important” introduce children to problem solving skills and give them a better understanding of their feelings.

  • “Career Day” and “Shhhh!!!” are designed to educate children about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in a sensitive entertaining way.
